Parents
Matter, Central South Dakota Chapter is a group of
concerned individuals comprised of parents, community
leaders, law enforcement, counselors, teen judicial
advocates, business people, media representatives and others
who care about the well being of our youth. Pierre and
Ft. Pierre have named underage drinking as the Number One
Health Concern in our cities and counties. Parents
Matter CSD Chapter, through volunteers, is committed to
preventing underage drinking and drug abuse through
education of parents , as well as our youth.
Established
in the spring of 2007, our goals are to evolve you and make
our youth safe within our communities. We are also
doing outreach projects with surrounding communities in an
effort to prevent fatal accidents involving alcohol and
recreational drugs, like those in 2005, when 13 young people
died. We are joining with the South Dakota Department
of Highway Safety's Parents Matter group in these efforts.
